The word chakra, in Sanskrit, means "wheel, circle or disk", and is used to represent the energy centers of our body, which have the task of "receiving and distributing" our vital energy.
There are 7 main chakras, and each of them, in addition to having specific characteristics, is associated with certain emotions, sensations, mental and spiritual functions.
However, due to trauma or physical and emotional tensions, the chakras can have a lack of energy or, on the contrary, they can be excessively stimulated, and therefore overloaded with energy.
This leads to an imbalance that can manifest itself in physical and emotional disturbances.
Knowing the functioning of the chakras it is therefore possible to understand our energy imbalances, and understand where to go to work to restore a psycho-physical balance.
According to yoga theory, we are all made up of a physical, visible body and an energy, invisible body which regulates our intellectual and spiritual activities.
This invisible body is made of "prana", or our vital energy.
Each chakra, in addition to having its own function and representing specific areas of the body, is also associated with many other realities: it has its own colour, its own element, its own sound (or mantra), a stone, a planet or a perfume.
